Yves Saint Laurent S/S 11

Excusez-moi for the delay on more fashion week coverage. Stefano Pilati topped my list this season for his vivid and sophisticated collection. How could you not remember the scene in The September issue where Anna Wintour criticizes Stefano for the lack of color found in his collection for YSL? Showcasing his skill for immaculate cutting and a newly minted point of view, Stefano turned out his best, and brightest, collection yet. White trenches, silk blouses and sleek jumpsuits all called to mind the reminiscence of that chic and powerful seventies woman on the streets in Paris smoking a cigarette, all done with elegance and grace. There are series of ruffled dresses that are certain to appear numerously in the editorial pages this season. Finding the balance between embracing the culture of the brand and adding your own quality, can be a complicated task for designers, but Stefano is one who seems to have mastered it all.

Masquerade

Wouldn't it have been lovely to attend the Vogue Paris 90th Anniversary ball? If you didn't receive an invite, the fall issue of Vogue Paris might lift your spirits. The festive theme runs throughout the issue leading up to a stunning editorial by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. Vogue Paris regulars, Lara Stone and Freja Beha Erichson join together for a visual delight styled by Mme. Roitfeld herself. The black and white images show off some of fall's most innovative pieces and perfectly capture the life we've come to expect.

Karl Lagerfeld created yet another captivating collection for the spring of 2011. The setting of the show was a beautiful garden amidst elegant fountains, which was breathtakingly surreal. The show had a full orchestra of 80 musicians that played romantic arrangements while more than 80 models graced the runway in chiffon florals and monochrome tweed patchwork.
